What to expect

During your consultation, one of our specially-trained physicians will review your health history, assess your hair loss and the treatment area, and discuss your hair loss experience to create a customized treatment plan.

To begin the PRP for hair loss treatment, a small amount of blood is drawn from your arm, similar to when having a blood test done. The blood is then spun in a centrifuge for several minutes to separate the plasma, which is rich in growth factors, from the red blood cells.

Using a thin needle, your plasma is then injected into the scalp at a superficial level – just to the depth of the hair follicles. The treatment takes just a few minutes and patients report minimal discomfort, though a topical anesthetic can be applied to minimize discomfort.

Following the treatment, you can resume regular activities. Some bruising may occur and usually resolves within a week or two. You may wash your hair, though it is important to refrain from using any colouring, processing or harsh chemicals on your hair for at least 48 hours. Avoid touching the treated area excessively, also.

Most clients require multiple treatments. Your individual needs and recommendations will be discussed with you during your consultation and prior to commencing treatment.

How it works

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) treatments utilize the body’s own healing platelets to stimulate a normal, biological reaction, making it a popular option for a wide range of health, rehabilitation and cosmetic purposes.

PRP works to treat hair loss as the platelets are injected into hair follicles that are dormant or inactive, stimulating them to enter an active growth phase, and a new hair begins to grow.
