The Botox® procedure is a simple one. Botox® Cosmetic is injected very precisely, using a tiny needle. It’s like a small pinprick and takes only minutes to inject.

After experiencing the Botox® cosmetic process at our office in Calgary, your results will begin to appear gradually over the next few days and are complete over the next week to ten days. The treatment will wear off gradually, usually lasting three to four months, depending upon the individual.

Following your Botox® injections, you will be able to return to work and life immediately, though you should not rub or massage the skin around the treatment area, and we recommend no strenuous exercise for the remainder of the day.

Botox® Cosmetic was approved for use in Canada in 2001, and has become the most common minimally-invasive cosmetic treatment in North America. In fact, it was a Canadian ophthalmologist who pioneered the use of Botox for cosmetic purposes and started the phenomenon.

This procedure is proven to be safe and effective. A common misperception about the Botox® injectable is that it is the same bacterium that causes botulism. In actuality, many of our medications come from bacteria, plants, and even molds. Much like penicillin comes from mold, Botox® comes from bacteria. This bacterium is carefully grown in a lab setting and produces eight different proteins. One of these proteins is isolated, purified, and formulated into the Botox® medication. No bacteria are ever present in the Botox® cosmetic injectables.
