What is microneedling?

Microneedling is a cosmetic procedure that increases the production of collagen. The non-ablative procedure consists of pricking the skin with tiny, sterilized needles of the eDermaStamp®. The small wounds created in the skin trigger healing, and as a result your skin produces e more collagen and elastin helping to make you look younger. Depending on the surface area being treated, the procedure usually takes between 10-20 minutes, and it takes between 4-6 treatments to see results. A dermatologist or an aesthetician can perform microneedling, and at INLIV, Registered Nurse Nadia Zinchuk will perform all treatments.

How does microneedling work?

Micro-needles reach beyond the skin’s epidermis into the dermis, causing pin-point bleeding. The pinpoints trigger the body’s spontaneous healing response and within minutes the perforation channels close and healing begins. As collagen and elastin form, skin becomes noticeably thicker, more supple, and younger looking.

Microneedling requires little to no downtime and is proven to be effective for both men and women. One of the less invasive procedures to improve your skin texture and tone, the procedure is safe for all skin types and tones and can help with a myriad of issues including:

Before, during and after the treatment, here’s what you can expect:

Initially the surface area is numbed with gel for about 20 minutes, and then the circular motion of the microneedling starts. The feeling is like a cleaning brush with a little pressure. Some spots (i.e. under the eyes and upper lip) are prone to being a bit more sensitive, so some minor pokes can be felt. After the treatment was completed, an intensive hyaluronic moisturizer mask is put on for 20 mins and another mask is given to use later that evening. Post treatment, the skin felt like it was a little sunburnt for the evening with some minor red spots. Within 48 hours, the skin is anticipated to be back to normal colouring.
